Zen Shiatsu is a traditional form of Asian Bodywork based on the insights of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Theory. Life force energy called Ki (Chinese Qi or Ch'i) flows into, through, and out of your body along tangible pathways known as meridians. As the body's "energetic bloodstream" the meridians affect the functioning of the whole body. Meditative techniques including stretching, joint mobilization, and pressure (with the use of hands, fingers, thumbs, forearms, knees and feet) are applied along the body's major meridians to balance and stimulate the flow of Ki, allowing the body to heal itself.
This treatment is given on a cushioned floor mat with the client in loose comfortable clothing.

Swedish Massage is an oil-based massage with the client undressed and covered with a sheet and blanket, while only the area being worked with is undraped. Long flowing strokes sedate your central nervous system, relax the body and mind, and warm and prepare your tissues for rhythmic kneading, fulling, compressing, and deep stripping. These deep strokes enhance the flow of oxygen in the blood, release toxins from the muscles, and separate the tissues, greatly improving the health of the muscle cells, nerve cells and lymph vessels, improving muscle tone, elasticity and overall functioning. Other techniques include stretching, rocking, vibration, and tapotement; relaxed, rhythmic "drumming". A well delivered Swedish massage with leave you feeling balanced, deeply relaxed and vibrantly renewed.
Deep Tissue Therapy addresses pain, stiffness, and imbalances deep in the muscles and connective tissue. This specific work is guided by your unique body. Full presence with careful attention is given to listen to your tissues and always remain "on the comfortable side of your edge". Sensitive awareness and clear knowledge of muscular anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology are invaluable aspects of effective treatment. Deep Tissue treatments may be given along with Swedish work or on their own. Effective Deep Tissue techniques may also be given with the client in loose comfortable clothing.
Hot Stone Massage is the art of using hot stones as an extension of the hands to massage the body. A full Hot Stone treatment uses 30 to 40 rocks of various sizes. New rocks are retrieved from hot water as soon as the current ones have cooled down. Placement stones are often set strategically on the body. This deep treatment greatly enhances the beneficial affects of Swedish and Deep Tissue therapy and is intensely pleasurable to receive.
Polarity Therapy was developed by Dr. Randolph Stone who spent over sixty years studying medicinal practices, healing techniques, exercise systems, and health related philosophy. Polarity Therapy is synthesized from the most essential components of Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, Yoga, hermetic philosophy, and Western medicine.
In a Polarity session we work with the powerful field of life-force energy to clear emotional trauma, resolve blocks and tension, and promote balance and harmony in the body. Satvic (Air principal) contacts predominate in stillness and presence. Rajasic (Fire principal) contacts are stimulating and directive. Tomasic (Water principal) contacts are intense and penetrating, lasting only a few seconds (used to disperse blocked energy).
Craniosacral Therapy may be the least familiar to the general population and the most commonly misunderstood system of healing. Abiding in stillness, a craniosacral practitioner listens to the motion of the tissues and fluid of the central nervous system as they emanate the subtle rhythm of primary respiration. This quality of presence follows the innate intelligence of the body as it unwinds and releases tensions, allowing holding patterns to return to the rhythmic motion of health. A concise introduction of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy of is given here.
Polarity Therapy and Craniosacral Therapy treatments are given on a massage table with the client fully clothed.
